no brake game is great when i travel with family and want a smooth cruise with great fuel economy, but when i drive alone and want to have fun in the car then tailbraking is much more exciting. Of cource that doesnt mean i go full speed on every corner i dont see into. Only the ones with great visibility and no other car around. And thats in my opinion the true way how to know if someone is skilled driver. If someone is fast in straight lane but brakes full in the apex or way before and then use gas to speed up again to the corner, then he doesnt know how to drive :D

Risk is clear, but I can’t see the reward in any of these situations… Open roads are not designed to be used like circuits, plus any erratic driver or pedestrian can increase the risk drastically. And quite often you only know when it’s too late, especially if you’re going too fast for no reason, thats when accidents happen. For me personally, I’d rather sit back and keep it safe

200bhp is plenty enough for overtakes in nearly all normal situations in UK. Depends on car weight of course. Although more is welcome. It actually is the torque you need. Audi TT 197bhp, turbo torque...never had an issue overtaking. Almost overtake at will. I used to get by with 120 with a free revving engine, but more power than that is certainly very helpful. I think if I had 500bhp I'd overshoot

Just flicked between a F8x 7sp dct and G87 8sp ZF I can confirm the G87 was very good on MPG on the motorway at 70 vs the M4. But the M4 is better than my prior e46 M3. 6sp, 7sp, 8sp Seems any car with more gears than the last will have better mpg at a given speed....

Even 200HP is pretty much. I remember when I was trying to make overtakes inside car that have 80HP or even less. Have no idea if it is an English word for such technique: You drive behind a car you want to overtake. You know or see, that there will be (or might be) a long straight road after a corner, so you slow down a bit before corner, to build separation distance. On the corner you are increasing your speed, so when you both are going out of it, you are just behind your victim and you have speed greater than him. You check the road and make decision - breaks and slow down, because you have no option to overtake OR keep increasing speed and start overtake. You also use it on a long straight road, when you see cars coming from opposite direction. Increase distance when they are coming, then speed up and jump on their lane just after passing last one of them. With speed difference already build - without need of just building it with your small engine.

Your road and following positioning is poor. That first example which you didn’t take was on, if you had have taken a decent position. And your forgetting one of the most basic and important aspects, and that’s your ‘landing zone’ - at the last moment before you pull back in, while on the O/S, you should still be safe and have a clear road (the 50/50 rule). That’s hard to judge for a new driver. Also you mention junctions, but this needs more discussion as it’s where many RTC’s happen - mainly on O/S junctions, as people will pull out without looking left. Which is what you did at 5.19 - that was dangerous.

I find that once you are 100K outside any major city, everything calms down, whoever’s out at that distance is in for the long haul, and aggressive driving really wears you down, it’s very tiring. Once you are less than 100K, it’s mostly regular commuters, and the highway is just another city street, and chaos reigns supreme.

Is not driving spiritedly a thing? I mean it’a a good thing to be in the correct gear so going into a corner you should change down. But as for spirited not sure if that really makes sense if there’s a lot of traffic ahead or a lorry as in this example.

My IS car recommended 35-38psi. But I keep at 40-42 summer with MAX psi is 51. (Also save more MPG) Cold weather, I keep it at 45PSI. Never reach 49psi. That's my safety point. Yes, my car rode rougher but the more responsive on the ultra high performance tire.
